Job Description
Job Summary:The Fabricator I (Metal) will cut materials to size and shape and weld metal using hand tools andequipment such as band saws, material brakes, and material shears. The role will provide weldingsupport for the garage shop services teams. The Fabricator I (Metal) will be mentored and supported byteam members on project work and customer interactionsEssential Duties and Responsibilities:• Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses.• Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with sanding disk and wire brushes to remove impuritiessuch as scale, rust, grease, and moisture.• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overheadpositions.• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshootingbreakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs?• Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.Education and Experience (required):• High school diploma or equivalent.• No previous experience required.Education and Experience (preferred):• Certificate in Welding Technology or related.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (required):• Basic knowledge and ability to Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) weld.• Good communication skills and detail oriented.• Knowledge to safely operate and use the Plasma cutter and Oxy-Fuel torch to cut outmaterial.• Has own tools and rolling toolbox.
