Job Title: Secondary English TeacherJob Summary:The Secondary English Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, speaking, and critical analysis to students in grades 6-12. The teacher fosters a supportive and inclusive classroom environment while helping students develop strong literacy skills and an appreciation for literature.Key Responsibilities:Plan and implement lessons aligned with state and district curriculum standardsTeach a range of topics, including literature, composition, grammar, and vocabularyEncourage critical thinking through discussion, analysis, and writing assignmentsAssess student learning through essays, exams, projects, and presentationsProvide timely and constructive feedback to support academic growthDifferentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilitiesMaintain an organized and positive classroom environmentIntegrate technology and digital resources into instructionMonitor and report on student progress to parents and school administrationCollaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary activitiesParticipate in professional development, staff meetings, and school eventsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred)Valid teaching certification/licensure for secondary educationStrong knowledge of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategiesExcellent communication, organization, and classroom management skillsAbility to engage and motivate adolescent learnersPreferred Qualifications:Experience teaching both middle and high school levelsFamiliarity with standardized testing and assessment practicesExperience supporting diverse learners, including ESL/ELL and special education studentsProficiency with educational technology and learning management systemsWork Environment:Classroom setting within a middle or high schoolMay include extracurricular responsibilities (e.g., clubs, tutoring, mentoring)Requires lesson planning, grading, and occasional evening or weekend commitments
