Distribution Clerk
The Distribution Clerk is accountable for efficiently fulfilling shipping orders of frozen food items for contract programs. This role encompasses tasks such as packing frozen products into crates, coordinating shipments to designated locations, and maintaining precise inventory records of frozen meals. Additionally, the Distribution Clerk is responsible for accurate data entry into the pre-plate tracker and adherence to daily production charts to ensure the precision of distributed finished products. Upholding cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with State and Federal guidelines is paramount. The Distribution Clerk may provide support in lunch service preparation and in the bakery as required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Coordinate daily shipments to dining centers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
Organize and pack frozen food items in walk-in coolers, monitor stock levels, and ensure precise food counts for shipment to all locations.
Load products onto carriers for distribution, ensuring proper labeling, secure sealing, and completion of carrier tags with necessary signatures for finalized orders.
Verify the accuracy of food counts for shipment to contract locations, maintaining consistency with established standards.
Maintain an organized and accurate inventory of frozen food products, adhering to quality, quantity, and portioning standards as per USDA guidelines.
Conduct thorough clean-up of equipment, fixtures, and work area, including floors, walls, and equipment, to uphold sanitation standards.
Assist in the preparation and setup of lunch service.
Assist the bakery department as needed.
Hours for this role start at 5:30am until 2:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break, Monday-Thursday
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Knowledge
High school diploma or GED Certificate
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
Current Oregon Food Handlers Certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks
Skills, Abilities & Experience
Two-years experience in warehouse, food distribution or related field preferred
Ability to operate electric pallet jack equipment
Ability to work with volume foods and non-food supplies while maintaining inventories
Good computer, general math, reading and communication skills
Ability to work well with others in a diverse team-oriented atmosphere
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education that ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Work with and around food production machinery (sealers, ovens, mixers, knives, etc.)
Work with warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, rolling racks, etc.)
Occasional exposure to heat and water
Frequent exposure to cold working in a walk-in cooler
High frequency of multiple repetitive movements, including bending, reaching, and stooping
The individual must be able to carry 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly
Ability to stand for 8 hours a day or more
Candidate must successfully pass the Meals on Wheels People pre-employment drug & alcohol test and criminal background check
