Power System Design Senior Engineer
Join a dynamic group of Power system engineers responsible for the design, development and integration of Power subsystem for the world’s premier land-based combat vehicle producer.Position Title: Contractor- Power System Design Senior EngineerThe Power system team is part of the System Engineering group at client.Our mission is to investigate, design, develop, and integrate power subsystem capabilities for the current and next generation of vehicle platforms. The team works within larger systems group with responsibility and authority to deliver design requirements, perform analysis, guide the hardware and software design teams with the goal of integrating and testing them at the subsystem and vehicle level.Responsibilities to Anticipate:Lead Power system design and development efforts regarding a mix of advanced capabilities, including but not limited to:Power subsystem design and integrationPower system Architecture DecisionsAdvanced Technologies trade studiesWork internally and externally with vendors/partners to integrate functionality of their systems/subsystems seemingly onto client platformsDevelop CAE models for complex hybrid electric systems – Integration of HV Battery, ISG, E-Motor, DC/DCs, power distribution devices into a Power subsystem modelCreation and integration of CAE models into a power subsystem model to dynamically evaluate system performance for various external factors (Drive cycles, tolerances, loading profiles, environmental and road load conditions etc.)Perform a component and system sizing analysis for various conditions based on customer requirementsUnderstanding of features/systems requirements and the ability to translate the requirements into validation test procedures and use casesProvide direction for team members including technology roadmaps and mentorship.Approve/Develop documentation, SSDD, SRS, CAN ICDs and other artifacts for implementation to the power hardware production teamParticipate in internal and customer demonstrationsWork closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate critical interfaces, use cases, drive cycles profiles, operational performance requirements, and design of the overall systemParticipate in peer reviews, identify, track and assess solutions to defectsConduct research and evaluation of emerging technologies in Hybrid Electric Systems (HV Batteries, E-motors, Power electronic devices and architectures, methodologies, and integration strategiesPosition Requirements:Bachelor’s or Master’s, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems or related technical field10 years plus in a related role is desired.Experience with electrical power systems (Power generation, power distribution, power management and energy storage) of military or automotive vehicles, including specifications, development, design, testing, integration and troubleshooting of vehicle electrical power system and their associated hardware components is required.Strong knowledge with hybrid electrical architectures and system integration with different voltagesStrong background in modeling and simulation of Electrical systemsStrong background in model generated coding applications, i.e. Matlab/Simulink and AnsysComfortable with supporting integration issues in a lab and on a vehicle.Highly motivated performerWorks well in team and individuallyGoal oriented and keep the team focused to taskAbility to multi-task on simultaneous development projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and mission scopeHave a proactive attitude and enjoy working in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtimeStrong communication, interpersonal, and people skills requiredAbility to travel when needed, minimal travel required for this roleNice to have (additional qualifications):Experience with HIL and SIL bench level testingExperience using Vector testing suite of products (Canalzyer, CANoe, Capl) for developing testing interfacesKnowledge of J1939 CAN BusExperience in design, development and integration of military vehiclesExperience with defense department processes and documentation standardsExperience with version control systems like GIT, Issue Tracking system like JIRA and Collaboration tools like Confluence, etc.Familiar with Agile development methodologyFamiliarity with Team Center and VisMockup
