The ideal individual will be a forward-thinking, detail oriented developer who shares our vision of high quality execution towards a common goal of providing maximum business value to our customers.\n\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\n% of Time\n\nEnd Results\n\n70%\n\nNew Software Development\nDesign and develop systems while maintaining a “common sense” approach that serves to identify and provide insight into potential design gaps. Develop efficient, scalable, reusable business logic components leveraging OOP principles and common design patterns. Develop intuitive, dynamic, responsive and user friendly UIs.\nDesign and create supporting database schema and related objects leveraging industry best-practices.\n\n30%\n\nMaintenance, Troubleshooting and Other\nAssess, debug/troubleshoot, and document production issues and develop fixes as needed for mission critical systems. Perform root-cause analysis and suggest/implement improvements to avoid recurring issues. Serve as an on-call person to resolve outages and system crashes on a 24/7/365 basis.\n\nQualifications for Software Developer\nFormal Education & Certification\nBachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field\nKnowledge & Experience\n3+ years of experience in a software development environment.\nUtility industry experience preferred.\nStrong understanding of object-oriented programming and computer science fundamentals.\nSelf-motivated, independent, detail-oriented and a responsible team-player.\nFull stack web development with demonstrated experience in the .NET Framework (preferably 3.5+), ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server, jQuery and CSS.\nFamiliarity with ASP.NET MVC, WCF, Linq. HTML 5, and ORM technologies such as Entity Framework.\nSharePoint and experience with mobile device development are big pluses.\n\nQualifications for Senior Software Developer:\nFormal Education & Certification\nBachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field\nKnowledge & Experience\nStrong object-oriented development background\n5+ years of development experience using C# and a high level of expertise with .NET frameworks, Git, Azure DevOps\nBasic knowledge of IIS used for deploying and troubleshooting web applications\nSolid theoretical and practical SQL skills (Entity Framework (EF), Linq)\nSolid written and verbal communication skills\nExperience with ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, Blazor\nExperience designing and developing Web APIs\nExposure to one or more JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery a plus\nHands on experience with modern UI frameworks a plus\nPreferred\n3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure development\nDemonstrated ability to interpret legacy source code (Classic ASP, VBScript, VB6)\n\nUnitil is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
