The Dental Hygienist will perform routine dental prophylaxis procedures, assist in maintaining patient oral health, and support dental hygiene students with minimal supervision. The role requires adherence to Prisma Health's core values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform oral prophylaxis procedures, including removal of hard and soft deposits and stains from teeth.Clean and polish tooth surfaces.Apply topical fluoride treatments.Expose and develop dental radiographs.Provide oral hygiene instruction and patient counseling.Offer nutrition and dietary counseling related to oral health.Review and update patient medical and dental histories.Measure and record blood pressure.Chart and document dental conditions and diseases.Schedule and confirm patient appointments.Accurately document patient care and charges using Epic Wisdom.Support and mentor dental hygiene students as needed.Follow all organizational policies, infection control protocols, and safety standards.Minimum QualificationsEducationAssociate Degree in Dental Hygiene required.ExperienceNo prior experience required.One (1) year of dental hygiene experience preferred.Required Licensure/CertificationCurrent South Carolina Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license required.
