Qualified candidates must be well grounded in fundamentals of carpentry and tool usage. Their primary learning mode is OJT through experience and interaction with intermediate and advanced carpenters. Basic Carpenters have three development levels; (1) improve supervisory skills from small unskilled labor crews to larger crews that include BELFOR personnel and skilled subcontractors; (2) become increasingly competent with carpenter tools and BELFOR equipment; and (3) develop a basic understanding of field operation tasks specific to restoration industry. This position is the level 2 in the Progressive Carpenter track.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nMust be able to take direction from experienced carpenter and supervisor\r\nMove and protect contents without damage\r\nConstruct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt and airborne contaminant in working area\r\nUsing appropriate tools and accepted BELFOR methods, perform tasks related to floodcutting, salvaging and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc.\r\nDevelop full material knowledge as it relates to types, purposes, grades and uses for trims, doors, cabinetry\r\nDevelop proficiency in installation of various forms of insulation\r\nDevelop under supervision knowledge of Framing, Trim installation, cabinetry installation\r\nDevelop under supervision ability to \"dry-in\" a building as it relates to roofing material installation\r\nLearn and understand MSDS protocols for chemicals used during mitigation processes\r\nPerform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain in clean serviceable condition\r\nMust maintain attention to detail\r\nWill be required to meet BELFOR Standards in safeguarding other people's property\r\nMust have a comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices\r\nWork under time constraints to meet specific timelines\r\nWill be required to work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodically\r\nReport time worked and equipment and consumables used timely and accurately\r\nAttend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as required\r\nRequirements\r\nCoordinating a small crew of unskilled laborers on most residential projects\r\nAnswer simple questions about the project and when to defer questions to more qualified personnel\r\nMaintaining equipment used in daily tasks\r\nPerform emergency services as needed - - IE Board Ups, securing building against further damage\r\nAdditional other duties as required\r\nThis Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or on any other basis prohibited by law.
