This position supports the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of lessons and summer camp programs while leading supervisors and instructional staff to deliver safe, engaging, and high-quality guest experiences.The Assistant Manager partners closely with the department's leadership to ensure operational excellence, staff development, and alignment with Woodward's culture and standards.What's in it for you: Full-time Year-Round position. Enough free time to enjoy the Woodward lifestyle.* Discounts on food, retail, and gear.* Career development and growth opportunities are available.* A connection with people who share the same passions and embrace each other's unique and individual styles.Scope of Responsibility* Supports department-wide lessons and camp operations.* Overseas daily execution of instructional programs.* Provides leadership to supervisory and coaching staff.* Directly and indirectly support approximately 60 instructional employees.Key ResponsibilitiesPeople Leadership* Guide, mentor, and assist Supervisors, Leads, and Coaches.* Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding.* Support employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives.Program & Instructional Delivery* Support development, execution, and continuous improvement of lessons and camps.* Ensure consistent quality, progression standards, and delivery of the guest experience.* Teach group and private lessons as required.* Recommend program enhancements based on feedback and performance.Operations & Scheduling* Coordinate staffing schedules to meet business demand.* Review payroll and manage labor in alignment with budgets.* Serve as Manager on Duty on a rotating basis.* Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately.* Identify and coordinate maintenance and equipment needs.Safety, Guest Experience & Communication* Uphold safety standards, training requirements, and risk management protocols.* Communicate with parents, guardians, guests, and staff as needed.* Resolve guest and employee concerns professionally and promptly.Collaboration* Partner cross-functionally with other departments.* Support Progression operations based on business needs.Job Complexity* Exercises independent judgment within established policies and procedures.* Balances operational, staffing, and guest-facing priorities.* Escalates complex issues to the Progression Manager as appropriate.Minimum Qualifications* Advanced skills in one or more action sports and related safety practices* Strong communication and organizational skills* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)* Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings* Ability to work outdoors and perform physical job requirements* Successful background check and SafeSport completion (post-hire)Preferred Qualifications* Leadership experience in camp-based or multi-sport instructional environments* 3+ years of leadership experience managing staff performance* 5+ years teaching action sports (e.g., skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, BMX, mountain biking, trampoline, gymnastics, parkour)* Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PSIA-AASI, USASA, PMBIA, USAG, USSA)* Familiarity with scheduling, payroll, or POS systems (Flaik, RTP, Workday, or similar)You make us Woodward.
