Summary:
The Lead Patient Financial Services oversees the team of Patient Account Representatives and Revenue Cycle Assistants. This role is responsible for managing complex accounts and ensuring patient interactions during billing and follow-ups are handled with care and consistency. The Lead monitors self-pay and third-party collections, providing support and guidance to staff to ensure smooth operations. This position also focuses on operational efficiency, supporting uninsured and underinsured patients, and maintaining relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
Essential Job Functions:
Leads the onboarding, training, and ongoing support of staff to ensure consistency in workflows, policies, and best practices.
Monitors self-pay balances and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding accounts across multiple systems.
Develops and maintains standardized processes to improve revenue cycle operations and ensure compliance.
Assists with daily operations, troubleshoots issues, and collaborates with the team to meet department goals.
Ensures all activities align with federal and state regulations, payer guidelines, and financial assistance programs.
Oversees payment processing activities, including manual receipt posting and reconciliation.
Helps uninsured and underinsured patients access community care programs and resources.
Works with leadership, internal departments, and external partners to ensure efficient service delivery and improve patient advocacy by serving as the point of contact for external partners to ensure smooth payment processing and data exchanges, conducting audits and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, contributing to strategic planning and continuous quality improvement efforts and performing other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
