This position will report directly to TAF’s Principal Investigator for these R&D efforts. This role will include:Digital, mixed signal, and USB Type-C Power Delivery circuit designCircuit analysis (i.e., using SPICE)Board layout and design for manufacturingTest design and developmentFailure mode analysis and compliance analysisWorking with technicians to transition designs to manufacturingThis position is a mix of remote and on-site work in Richmond, Virginia with flexible hours. At least 30 hours per week must be during US-Eastern Time business hours (9-5ET). You must be able to work on site in the Richmond, Virginia area, as required. Days on site will vary based on project needs with more remote work possible during design phases followed by mostly on-site work during prototyping and integration phases. Hours on-site are flexible with 24 hour facility access.Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Early career $60,000 to $90,000. Experienced level $90,000 to $120,000. Benefits include 4% 401(k) match, 11 Federal holidays, paid time off, and group health/vision/dental insurance offerings. This position is full time.Experience RequirementsPrior experience with board design and layout (e.g., Altium, Eagle, etc.)Prior experience with circuit analysis software (i.e., SPICE)Prior experience designing and bringing-up at least one complete circuit board designBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldIdeal ExperienceExperience with USB Type-C Power Delivery circuit designPower supply designExperience designing for impedance controlled applicationsBattery or energy storage electronics experienceProficiency in AltiumFirmware (C, Rust) development abilityEmbedded systems designOther Nice to Have ExperienceOur hardware and software teams work closely together to deliver integrated products. These other areas of experience would also add value:Experience with Git version control & working with a development teamExperience with PythonExperience using Linux on the desktop including Ubuntu and DebianExperience integrating TPMs, secure boot, code signing, and other security measuresExperience developing automated tests (unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop) for embedded firmware and hardwareITAR RequirementsThis position will require access to technical data that is export controlled.
