Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements.Position OverviewXcel Energy is seeking an E&C Engineer level I to support two single-cycle combustion turbine projects inthe SPS territory. This is a field-based engineering role focused on supporting construction execution,EPC RFI coordination, open engineering items, and commissioning/start-up activities.Scope of Work & Key Responsibilities• Act as a field engineer supporting EPC RFI submittal and response processes• Support open engineering items during construction• Assist with commissioning and start-up activities• Provide technical oversight of EPC field activities• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, construction managers, and external vendorsTypical DayThe resource will be onsite supporting day-to-day construction and engineering activities, reviewingdrawings, supporting RFIs, coordinating with the EPC and turbine manufacturer, and assisting withtechnical issue resolution.Team & StakeholdersThis role will be working closely with Xcel project managers, assistant project managers, internalengineering team members, construction managers, EPC contractor Kiewit, and turbine manufacturerSiemens.Work Environment & SafetyThis is a full-time, onsite field role requiring PPE including high-visibility vests and steel-toe boots. A one-time reimbursement up to $75 for steel-toe boots is approved and should be submitted via VNDLY.Ramp-Up ExpectationsWeek 1: Become familiar with the project, team, drawings, schedule, and RFI processes.Month 1: Actively support RFIs, engineering reviews, and field coordination with EPC and vendors.Work Hours & OvertimeStandard daytime work hours are expected. As construction activities ramp up, overtime and potentialSaturday work may be required.Project Duration & Extension PotentialThe initial assignment is expected to be 12 months. The overall project duration is estimated atapproximately three years, with a high likelihood of extension.Required Skills & Experience• Experience supporting EPC construction projects• Familiarity with RFI submittal and document control processes• Experience with Siemens combustion turbines (preferred)• Mechanical and electrical engineering exposure (mechanical preferred)• Experience working onsite in construction or field environments• Valid driver's licenseTools & Systems• SharePoint and similar document management platforms• EPC document transmittal systems (e.g., InEight / TeamBinder – preferred, not required)• Microsoft Office and Microsoft TeamsPreferred Candidate BackgroundCandidates with experience at major EPC firms or utilities such as Burns & McDonnell, Black & Veatch,Sargent & Lundy, Kiewit, Siemens, or other large IOU utilities are preferred.
