This role will provide critical legal support to the company's merchandise and proprietary (private label) brands initiatives, partnering closely with cross-functional business teams to drive efficient and compliant commercial outcomes.This position is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can deliver practical, business-oriented legal solutions while managing complex transactions and competing priorities.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide legal counsel on complex business transactions supporting merchandise and private brand teamsDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, merchandising, and development contractsDeliver timely, pragmatic legal advice aligned with business objectivesPartner closely with merchandising, procurement, marketing, and product teams on initiatives impacting product sales and distributionAdvise on legal risks and help develop practical solutions to support business strategiesManage and coordinate external counsel as neededEnsure compliance with applicable laws and regulations impacting merchandising, product development, and marketingPreferred Qualifications:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolActive State Bar membership in good standing4+ years of relevant transactional legal experienceRetail, fresh food, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry experienceFamiliarity with: Private label and branded products, Retail promotions and funding structures, Franchise relationships, Intellectual property matters, Product labeling, marketing, and regulatory requirements
