This role is best suited for a self-motivated hunter who thrives on self-sourcing opportunities—identifying, pursuing, and closing new merchant relationships through proactive outreach and networking efforts. While the primary focus is on independently developing new business, there may also be opportunities to collaborate with and support existing bank partners to strengthen referral activity and expand our collective portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven sales professional in the merchant services and fintech industry who wants to take ownership of their territory and drive measurable growth.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nEssential Functions\nProactively self-source new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, referrals, community engagement, and local business development.\nCreate and execute a personal prospecting strategy focused on building a sustainable and growing book of business.\nCollaborate with existing referral partners as opportunities arise, supporting them with product education, joint calls, and referral management.\nObtain merchant statements from prospective clients, assess their payment processing needs, and present tailored, value-driven proposals.\nManage the entire sales cycle — from initial outreach and needs assessment to proposal, negotiation, and onboarding.\nSell merchant services and fintech solutions including credit/debit card processing, payment terminals, and integrated payment technology.\nMaintain a detailed and up-to-date sales pipeline in the CRM, with consistent documentation of outreach and follow-up activities.\nRepresent the company at networking events, trade shows, and industry functions to build brand awareness and generate leads.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nAnalyze market trends, competitor offerings, and client data to identify new opportunities and optimize territory performance.\nEducate bank staff on our suite of merchant services and Fintech solutions to enhance their ability to identify and refer potential clients.\nResearch, monitor, and advise management of client risk and/or issues, facts and opinions when opening an account.\nOther duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nHigh School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.\nMinimum of 5 years of outside sales experience, with a proven track record of self-sourced success in B2B sales.\nPrior experience in fintech, merchant services, or financial sales strongly preferred.\nExceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.\nHighly self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and capable of managing a territory independently.\nProficient in CRM tools with a commitment to accurate and timely data entry.\nBasys provides technology and payment integration solutions for businesses across the country and Canada.
