Title: Lead Engineer (Gaming)Location: Remote in US / Redmond, WA (preferred)Key Responsibilities:Own one or more Realms backend services end-to-end, including architecture, hands-on development, releases, production health checks, reliability, and long-term technical direction.Lead the design and implementation of scalable, distributed backend systems, making sound architectural decisions for the POD team with minimal guidance.Drive complex features from ambiguous requirements through design, development, deployment, and post-production support.Take ownership of the team's most challenging technical problems, leading debugging, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex production issues.Lead live-site incident response and drive permanent engineering improvements through automation, monitoring, and operational excellence.Raise the engineering bar through hands-on coding, code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and engineering best practices.Partner closely with Realms Service Leads, Product Owners, Engineering Managers, and cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and successfully deliver customer-facing features.Own the full lifecycle for assigned services, including pipelines, infrastructure, deployment automation, and production readiness.Make data-driven decisions to improve scalability, performance, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.Mentor and coach engineers, provide technical leadership, and help grow the overall engineering capability of the team.Communicate technical direction, trade-offs, risks, and delivery status clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders.Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement while leading by example. Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $120000k – $130000k annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
