Animal Ambassador
The Animal Ambassador is the first person that the community interacts with. They are responsible for representing the shelter to the public in a positive light. They are the first point of contact for anyone seeking out assistance with their animals, whether it be for our Big Fix or Kibbles programs, intake or any other services which the agency may offer to help the community.
Beyond that, they will be working within the adoption unit to find good homes for dogs, cats and other animals both at the shelter and at offsite adoption events, while creating a rewarding experience for prospective adopters. Additionally, they will also be responsible for expanding and maintaining the agency’s foster network, as well as the placement of animals into and out of foster homes. The right candidate will be forward thinking, energized and eager to learn. They will be responsible for training foster and adoptive parents, providing humane education and providing follow-up checks on both fosters and adopters. Lastly, they will be responsible for carrying out routine typical office tasks such as answering phones and taking messages, cleaning the office, stuffing envelopes, and data entry. Occasionally this position will call for kennel work, where the ideal candidate will have to assist the Animal Caregivers in caring for the animals when the agency is short staffed or in need.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, outgoing and have strong customer services skills as well as experience with office administration, working hand in hand with the public and an ability to multi-task and work independently. The candidate will need to have a clean driving record so that they will be able to be placed on the company’s insurance.
