General Purpose Of The PositionThe purpose of this position is to ensure the Network Infrastructure team consistently performs to standards outlined by policies and procedures established for its operation. This includes managing a diverse workforce positioned to provide the latest communication technologies, both copper and fiber optic services in a high growth data center environment.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesMaintain the operational integrity of all Network Infrastructure operations to ensure consistent positive customer experienceAnalyze statistics and Key Performance Indicators [KPI’s] to determine and improve level of serviceAct as an elevated escalation contact for Network Infrastructure operationsCompletion of performance evaluations and disciplinary actions for Network Infrastructure team when necessaryPlan, develop, and implement enhanced policies and procedures to streamline efficiency and customer serviceScheduling of Network Infrastructure team to meet shift demandsDefine/create performance metricsProvide operational documentation to managerial reporting structureDevelopment of operations continuity planning and training regimens including mentorshipConduct cost/benefit analysisBe operationally fluent with all responsibilities of direct reportsPerform quality assurance reviews on Supervisors to include Technician reportsPrepare and maintain visual schedule of all assigned jobsWork closely with other teams within & outside of Network Operations to drive excellence and apply best practicesManage work orders to include procurement of equipment to complete work ordersLead by example fostering a healthy work environment for all employeesOther DutiesLocal, domestic, and international travel may be required at Switch’s requestEnsure all teams are executing tasks at a high level and on timeInstallation of premise hardware, including but not limited to, plywood backboards, conduit, structured cabling, patch panels, PDU’s, DC power rectifiers, wire management systemsInstallation of network hardware, including but not limited to, switches, routers, firewalls, media converters, wireless access points, wireless microwave radios, TDM multiplexers and other transport equipmentInstallation of fiber optic cables as well as splicing, testing and documentation for SWITCH and its customersProvide routine feedback on existing company processes and opportunities for improvementAssist upper management in the process of interviewing and on boarding of new employeesAll employees are responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of Switch facilities; this includes but is not limited to Meet Me Cages and IDF’sOther duties as assignedRequired Job SkillsRequired to work a flexible schedule according to business needs/events (to include, but not limited to nights and weekends and/or shift rotation)Demonstrated expertise in Telecommunications and Data Center IndustryAbility to manage and supervise technical staffDemonstrated knowledge of industry cabling standards and datacenter infrastructure deploymentUnderstanding of various network topologiesEfficiently interact with computing systemsAbility to navigate and effectively utilize ticketing systemsExcellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalismAbility to effectively manage deadlinesDisplay strong organizational skillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionAbility to read and interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical drawingsDemonstrated ability to work independently with limited directionComputer Equipment And SoftwareComputer literate with an emphasis on Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with equipment terminal access applications (Ex.: CRT, Putty, SSH)Experience with network monitoring software applications (Ex.: Syslog, Nagios, etc.)CertificationEducation and Experience:CompTIA (A+, N+, Security+) or other Switch approved, role-based technical trainingRequired within 12 months in roleCisco certifications are highly recommendedOSHA 30Required within 6 months in roleLeadership TrainingRequired within 12 months in roleEducationBachelor’s Degree in Technology or Business discipline recommended or equivalent experience in related fieldExperience4+ years in a supervisory role or related management experienceMust have background within the Network Infrastructure, Information Technology field or related educational background which includes troubleshooting and critical path creation that leads to problem resolution as well as demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, layer 1 connectivity issues and maintenance on hardware devices and must be comfortable with Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) on multiple hardware platforms and familiar with all media typesPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
