The DBA will design, implement, and manage databases and data delivery systems for a DHS client while ensuring that all database code meets standards for readability, reliability, and performance. The DBA will balance technical leadership with hands-on development and implementation to initiate, plan, and execute efficient database and analytics solutions. Ideal candidates will be self-starters, highly independent and comfortable in agile production environments. Position is open to both W2 and 1099 candidates.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop conceptual and logical data models for DHS client, mapping the structure of the current database assets.Collect and map user requirements to existing Access DatabasesClean up and remove database tool components that do not trace back to program user requirements and needs.Decompose master databases into coherent functional smaller databases to reduce the overall load demands on the databasesDevelop a long-term database roadmap to help modernize processes and database assets to ensure long-term viability of all Program data processing needs.Develop user guides for existing and new databasesDevelop, implement and maintain new database solutions tailored to DHS client needsFull life cycle support of client's databases.Responsible for database backups, design, development, testing, and performance tuning.Responsible for the design and implementation of analytics solutions as neededProvide regular error reporting and perform regular data integrity checksRun regular reports and create client facing deliverables as neededServe as SME when needed​Requirements include:Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferredExpert Knowledge of database programming and query troubleshooting.8+ years of relevant experience5+ years of experience with MS SharePoint2+ years of experience with MS Access2+ years of experience with SQL2+ years of experience with VBAExperience in Database ArchitectureKnowledge of Python or R is a plusStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex database performance.Strong knowledge of database upgrade/migrations.Able to understand and meet needs of end users.Good written and oral communication and soft skills.Able to work with multiple projects in a dynamic, fast paced and often changing environment.​JPI is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
