We are building a beginner-friendly platform that turns an idea into a compatible electronics kit, printable enclosure, wiring guide, firmware, and clear assembly steps.\n\nThe role\n\nThis is a paid, full-time, 12-week internship starting in November 2026. You will build Makeable's tested component library: exact electronics sourced, measured, modelled, documented, and proven to work together without soldering or specialist experience.\n\nWhat you will do\n\nSource exact modules from Chinese OEM and ODM suppliers and compare revisions, samples, substitutions, pricing, and lead times.\n\nBench-test electrical, firmware, and mechanical compatibility across controllers, sensors, displays, motors, cables, and connectors.\n\nMeasure and scan components, verify CAD geometry, and create digital-twin packages for Makeable's library.\n\nDocument pinouts, protocols, current limits, firmware examples, failure cases, and beginner assembly steps.\n\nCreate reference builds and reject parts that are unreliable, require soldering, or are too easy to connect incorrectly.\n\nWhat we are looking for\n\nEvidence of electronics, robotics, embedded systems, hardware kits, or product prototypes you personally built and tested.\n\nExperience with ESP32 or Arduino, sensors, communication protocols, power constraints, and embedded firmware.\n\nComfort with CAD, dimensional measurement, 3D printing, supplier communication, and methodical quality assurance.\n\nA portfolio, GitHub, build log, or project documentation showing how you diagnose hardware problems.\n\nLocation and pay\n\nSan Francisco is preferred, with a hybrid working setup.
