Must have at least 2 years experience\nJob Summary\nThe Specialty Coder is selected by Health Coding Leadership to focus advanced coding skills and expertise on designated high-dollar or specialty inpatient or outpatient account types. This role is responsible for maintaining current and accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT coding for inpatient and/or outpatient diagnoses and procedures through the review of clinical documentation and diagnostic results, with a consistent coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher.\nThe Specialty Coder will accurately abstract data into all appropriate electronic medical record systems, verify accurate patient dispositions and physician data, and follow official ICD-10-CM/PCS and AMA CPT coding guidelines.\nThis position collaborates with departments such as Health Information Management (HIM) and Clinical Documentation Improvement to ensure accurate and complete physician documentation that supports appropriate billing and reduces denials.
