The role will lead design experiments that scientifically confirm product performance, reliability, and shelf life.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities Actively seeks new technologies, and product features as part of innovation activities for the assigned product category and other dental chemical consumables products that could translate into new product offerings.\nCreates research activities outline (design of experiments) and schedule according to the company’s timetable and establishes daily or weekly routines necessary to meet the project timetable.\nDevelops in-depth knowledge and deep understanding (Subject Matter Expert /SME) of the assigned category with a good understanding of at least one adjacent category.\nProvides input and support in the planning of assigned category strategic roadmap.\nLeads R&D activities as part of design control/design change projects within assigned product categories with limited guidance from senior members.\nMaintains proficiency in New Product Development (NPD) tollgate and design change to independently prepare and execute activities (example: test methods, design verification protocol and report, ECR memo, etc.)\nLeads NPD feasibility work and provides support on sustaining projects at moderate to high complexity within assigned categories.\nProvide mentoring/coaching to research associates and research chemists.\nRepresent R&D in product risk management activities (documentation of risk identification, mitigation verification, etc.)\nCarries out experiments using appropriate equipment, techniques, and protocols.\nApplies good laboratory practices.\nLeads and/or executes experiments that scientifically confirm product performance, reliability, and shelf life.\nIdentifies deficiencies and modifies/improves existing procedures.\nExpected to participate with significant contribution in at least a combination of two product launches or life-cycle management (sustaining) projects with medium to high impact/complexity level.\nApplies scientific theory to reach conclusions based on data analysis.\nComplies with all company policies and procedures including quality, complaint handling, and safety.\nParticipates in continuous improvement activities through the Envista Business System (EBS) including Kaizens, 5S events, Standard Work workshops, Kanban, and Kamishibai.\nPerform additional responsibilities as assigned.\nJob Requirements Required Doctoral degree in chemistry, polymer, or related fields with 3 years of industrial laboratory OR\nMaster’s degree in chemistry, polymer, or related fields required with 5 years within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry and at least 2 years in the dental industry.\nAbility to work onsite five days per week.\nSkilled in conducting standard chemical or physical testing.\nExperience in applying good laboratory practices.\nProficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills in English.\nGood interpersonal and collaborative skills.\nGood organizational and time management skills.\nAbility to prioritize.\nLocation In-office 5-days per week\nPomona, CA\nPhysical Demands Works in a chemical laboratory and/or manufacturing environment with the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).\nWorks in the presence of human and animal teeth.\nFrequently uses hands and fingers.\nOccasionally reaches up/down with arms.\nOccasionally bends and stoops.\nOccasionally walks and stands.\nOccasionally sits.\nOccasionally lifts and carries up to 15 lbs.\nCompensation Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs.
