Product Design / Development Engineer – Precision Motion SystemsRole OverviewYou will lead the design and development of advanced precision motion systems—from concept architecture through prototyping, validation, and commercialization. This is a hands‐on, high‐ownership role where you will drive product innovation, support manufacturing and assembly, and work directly with customers to translate application needs into engineered solutions. A strong performer in this role will quickly grow into a broader technical leadership position.Key ResponsibilitiesArchitect Precision Motion Systems — Define and lead development of linear and rotary positioning stages and related subsystems.Own Full Product Lifecycle — Concept, design, prototyping, testing, and release to production.Engage Directly With Customers — Gather requirements, develop concepts, and support technical proposals.Lead Cross‐Disciplinary Design Reviews — Guide decisions across mechanical, electrical, and control domains.Select and Size Critical Components — Motors, bearings, materials, motion elements, and structural components.Develop Test & Validation Protocols — Ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.Prototype and Build Systems — Reduce technical risk and accelerate development cycles.Ensure Standards Compliance — CE, UL, RoHS, and other applicable regulations.Collaborate Across Teams — Work closely with engineering, sales, and operations.Mentor Junior Engineers — Provide technical guidance within a small, agile team.QualificationsStrong experience in precision motion systems (linear stages, rotary stages, bearings, actuators).Solid mechanical design foundation with system‐level architecture experience.Working knowledge of control theory and closed‐loop motion systems.Customer‐facing or applications‐driven engineering experience.Comfortable in a hands‐on, small‐team environment.Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD tools.Strong problem‐solving skills with a track record of taking designs from concept to production.Preferred ExperienceBackground in life sciences, optics, semiconductors, or advanced manufacturing.Precision metrology, GD&T (ANSI Y14.5), and system‐level tolerancing.Familiarity with FEA, simulation, or performance modeling.Exposure to MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or similar tools.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.~10+ years in precision mechanical design or motion system development.Demonstrated ownership of designs and system architecture contributions.Why This Role MattersLead high‐impact product development from day one.Direct exposure to customers and real‐world technical challenges.Influence product direction, engineering culture, and team growth.Clear path toward senior technical leadership.Traits of a Strong FitHands‐on, solutions‐driven mindset.Strong communicator who can bridge technical and customer needs.Comfortable balancing design, applications support, and leadership.Thrives in a fast‐moving, collaborative environment.
