USSTRATCOM is a combatant command with responsibilities that span strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), enterprise operations, Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) Operations (JEMSO), global strike, and missile threat assessment. Executing these responsibilities entails close alignment and collaboration with senior national and Department of Defense (DoD) leadership, functional and geographic combatant commands, defense agencies, and other elements of national power. Strategic deterrence is critical to the DoD’s integrated deterrence approach. USSTRATCOM’s ability to communicate is foundational to its mission and success, ensuring the safety and security of the United States (U.S.) and its allies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (24x365).\n\nJob Responsibilities:\n\nProvide systems engineering and architecture support for AFNWC.\nProvide comprehensive systems and network engineering and architectural planning services.\nInterface with O&S personnel by providing strategic design and support to projects, as directed.\nReview existing architecture on a regular basis, recommending and assisting with the design and implementation of systems and network improvements as required.\nResponsible for planning, solutioning, and improvement of AFWNC capabilities with a specific focus on cybersecurity and the implementation and design of the application layer.\nRequirements:\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nBS/BA, 10+ years of IT engineering experience\nITIL Foundations v5 Certificate and DoD 8140 Certification within 9 Months\nStrong ability to develop, analyze, and optimize complex system architectures supporting mission-critical AFNWC capabilities.\nSkill in planning, designing, and improving secure network infrastructures that meet operational and cybersecurity requirements.\nDeep understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure application-layer design, and implementation of protective measures aligned with DoD and Air Force standards.\nProficiency in designing, evaluating, and enhancing application-layer components to support secure, efficient system performance.\nAbility to review existing architectures, identify weaknesses, and recommend enhancements that improve security, performance, and reliability.\nStrong capability to interface with O&S teams, provide strategic design guidance, and support mission-driven project needs.\nCompetence in developing long-term architectural strategies, creating technical solutions, and planning upgrades to improve AFNWC capabilities.\nExperience using modeling, design, and diagnostic tools for system configuration, performance analysis, and architecture validation.\nAbility to identify architectural risks, conduct impact assessments, and ensure compliance with AF, DoD, and cybersecurity governance requirements.\nSkill in creating clear engineering documentation, architecture diagrams, and communicating complex technical recommendations to stakeholders.\nAbility to work collaboratively with developers, engineers, O&S personnel, and cybersecurity professionals to align architectural improvements with mission objectives.\nMust be a U.S. Citizen.?\nMust have and be capable of maintaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance at the required level.?\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n5 years or more experience in supporting USSTRATCOM Global Operations Center (GOC) and/or other operations centers at Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, or DoD levels.\nExperience in the NC2 operational platforms, communications, and modes of operations.\nITIL V4 Certification (will provide after hire)\n\nTo Apply for this Position:\n\nYou must have the Minimum Qualifications in your resume to be selected as a candidate.\n\nThe salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
