Natural Resources Environmental Specialist

As a Natural Resources Environmental Specialist, you will need functional and technical expertise and skills in NEPA processes, as well as in Waters of the U.S., cultural resources and Endangered Species Act. In this role, you will manage projects and programs of moderate complexity that require a specialized breadth of expertise.JOB DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains environmental policies, processes, and compliance documentation; interprets federal, state, and local regulations to ensure adherenceAssesses environmental risks, recommends mitigation strategies, and executes approved actions, including preparation of required regulatory documentationLeads or supports environmental project planning activities such as scheduling, cost estimation, impact assessments, and reportingPrepares and submits complex environmental permit applications, renewals, approvals, and variances, and maintains accurate permitting schedules aligned with project milestonesMonitors regulatory changes (e.g., FERC, NEPA, Clean Water Act, ESA, NHPA) and evaluates impacts on project timelines, costs, and compliance obligationsOther duties as assignedMINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is requiredA minimum of 5 to 10 years of Natural Resources environmental experienceDemonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priorityProficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skillsStrong knowledge of federal and state environmental permitting processes, including FERC and NEPA requirementsAbility to manage multiple permits across large-scale projects with aggressive deadlinesSkilled in developing permitting timelines and integrating them into overall project schedulesExcellent written and verbal communication skills for agency coordination and stakeholder engagementAbility to lead cross-functional teams and manage external consultants effectivelyCommitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory complianceProactive approach to identifying and resolving permitting challengesRegular and reliable attendanceEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:Targa Resources provides equal employment opportunities based on merit, experience, and other work-related criteria and without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, national origin, sex, age, pregnancy, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
