You drive demand creation and design-in activity at customer sites in close cooperation with the NXP business lines; you provide technical skills & support to NXP’s sales staff and will work with the NXP technical community about technical issues and future roadmap of your customer(s). Minimum 5 years development engineering or applications support of microprocessor based embedded systemsField Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industryExperience with C and C++ and a record of developing embedded firmwareDemonstrated knowledge of typical SoC hardware interfaces (Ethernet, MIPI, SDIO, LP DDR4/5, Quad/Octal SPI, USB2.0/3.0, UART, SPI, I2C)Knowledge of ARM Cortex A, M and R based architectures and register programming modelsExperience using Real-Time OS systems: QNX, FreeRTOS and Zephyr preferredKnowledge in embedded Linux a plus: kernel and user-space and uboot environmentsHands on knowledge of graphics and video subsystems and related software drivers helpfulKnowledge of Edge AI applications deployment is beneficialFamiliarity with CNNs, LLMs, VLMs, Agentic AI a plusAbility to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations highly desirableWilling to travel up to 30% within continental USExperienced in providing technical training to sales staff and distributorsProven track record of quickly learning new technologiesDevelop system level understanding of target end-applicationsMore information about NXP in the United States...NXP is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer regardless of age, color, national origin, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, marital status, status as a disabled veteran and/or veteran of the Vietnam Era or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
