Senior Scientist - Liquid Biopsy Assay Development (W2 Contract)Location: New York (Hybrid - 2-3 days on-site)Duration: 5 months (potential for extension or long-term engagement)Start: ASAPEngagement: W2 contractOverviewWe are seeking a Senior Scientist to join us on a contract basis to optimize and lock down our plasma-to-cell-free DNA (cfDNA) extraction pipeline ahead of commercial launch.This is a hands-on role focused on resolving variability in automated workflows and ensuring a robust, reproducible pre-analytical process.Key ResponsibilitiesTake ownership of the plasma-to-cfDNA extraction workflowDiagnose and resolve batch effects and variability introduced through automationOptimize DNA yield, quality, and consistency across runsEvaluate and improve automated extraction platforms and magnetic bead-based systemsRecommend alternative technologies, kits, or protocols where neededDesign and implement controls to normalize batch effectsDefine and track pipeline performance metricsDeliver a locked, validated, and scalable workflow ready for downstream applicationsRequirementsProven experience owning a plasma-to-cfDNA pipeline in a liquid biopsy settingBackground in pre-analytical assay developmentHands-on experience with automated extraction systemsStrong understanding of magnetic bead-based workflows and failure modesExperience minimizing technical variability and batch effectsTrack record of implementing robust QC and normalization strategiesExperience in leading liquid biopsy or genomics environments preferredOutcomeYou will deliver a fully optimized and reproducible cfDNA extraction pipeline with clearly defined controls and performance metrics, supporting reliable downstream analysis and commercial readiness.
