This award-winning property is internationally recognized for its commitment to the ongoing restoration of Baltimore and its success in social impact.Job OverviewEvent staff will work alongside the Event Captain or Event Manager to execute scheduled events. This role is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests, adhering to the outlet’s steps of service, setting up and breaking down events, and ensuring the space is visually appealing. Event staff will use banquet event orders (BEOs) as a guide for the guest experience. Service at New Waterloo is about combining great hospitality along with technical skills and warm personalities to create an upbeat, and welcoming environment.What You'll DoReview BEOs and connect with the Banquet Manager/Captain for menu details and special instructionsEnsure event space is set up and the correct equipment is in place as requiredAssist in event preparation by setting up tables, place settings, buffets, bar supplies, etc.Greet all guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcomePrepare and serve beverages during the event; check guests' identification to verify minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beveragesMaintain open communication with kitchen staff, informing them immediately of any requested changesServe guests in a warm, courteous, professional, and efficient manner and always follow up on any requestsEnsure quality and presentation of food before serving and see to each guest’s special needs, including any allergies or dietary restrictionsPromptly and quietly remove dirty dishes from tables as guests finish courses and take them to the dish room for cleaningClean up after the event: re-set tables, return any equipment, sweep, mop, etc. as neededEnsure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns; inform immediate supervisor and apply corrective measures when necessaryEnsure open lines of communication with all departments and management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc. to ensure all needs of the outlet are metWho You Are6+ months of related experience in the hospitality or service industry preferredState-issued food handling + beverage certifications as requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workersAbility to navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systemsBenefitsWe are proud to offer competitive wages and the following benefits for full-time employees:Up to 3 weeks paid time off annually50% off discount at most New Waterloo restaurantsHealth, vision + dental benefits401K matchingPaid holidaysVolunteer payTuition reimbursementReferral bonusesDiscounts at our shops, hotels + local partnershipsAbout New WaterlooNew Waterloo is a community-centric independent hospitality company based in Austin, Texas.
