The Systems Engineer will lead the development, integration, verification, and sustainment of automated test equipment (ATE) used for aerospace development and production environments.\n\nThis role requires in‑person support.\n\nDuties\n\nOwn system‑level requirements for SBC‑based avionics or embedded computing platforms and Automated Test Systems.\n\nTranslate customer, program, and certification needs into technical specifications, interface control documents, and verification plans.\n\nLead architecture definition for ruggedized compute modules, including processor boards, power interfaces, memory, I/O, thermal management, and enclosure integration.\n\nCoordinate cross‑functional design efforts across electronics, mechanical, firmware/software, cable/harness, and manufacturing teams.\n\nDefine system‑level requirements for automated test equipment, test stations, fixtures, and support hardware.\n\nLead design and integration of test solutions for electronic assemblies, electro‑mechanical subassemblies, cables, harnesses, and complete systems.\n\nEvaluate and select test equipment, instruments, connectors, fixturing, and environmental interfaces.\n\nSupport hardware/software integration for test systems, including instrumentation, data acquisition, control logic, and automated test scripts.\n\nSupport trade studies for component selection, form factor, power budget, thermal performance, obsolescence, cost, and manufacturability.\n\nSupport failure analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.\n\nPlan and execute verification and validation activities, including analysis, inspection, test, and demonstration.\n\nSupport qualification testing for vibration, shock, thermal cycling, humidity, EMI/EMC, altitude, and other aerospace environmental conditions.\n\nParticipate in design reviews, configuration control boards, and program technical reviews.\n\nWork with software teams to define boot, operating system, driver, middleware, diagnostics, and cybersecurity requirements.\n\nEnsure traceability from requirements through implementation, test, and acceptance.\n\nSupport supplier management, hardware procurement, and production readiness for rugged SBC assemblies.\n\nRequired Education\n\nBachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.\n\nRequired Experience\n\n5+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or other safety‑critical embedded systems development.\n\nExperience with safety‑critical standards and aerospace qualification practices.\n\nAbility to read schematics, interface drawings, mechanical layouts, and test reports.\n\nKnowledge of configuration management, requirements management, and verification traceability.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nExperience with automated test software development using Python, C++, LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar tools.\n\nFamiliarity with SCPI, VISA, PyVISA, Ethernet, CAN, RS‑422/485, SPI, or similar interfaces.\n\nFamiliarity with DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, ARP4754A, ARP4761, or similar frameworks.\n\nExperience with PCB design workflows, connector selection, and high‑reliability harnessing.\n\nKnowledge of cybersecurity, secure boot, or software assurance for embedded systems.\n\nPrior experience supporting low‑rate initial production or full‑rate production transitions.\n\nExperience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop systems, functional test, acceptance test, or burn‑in test.\n\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
