Barn Hand Intern

Position OverviewUnder the general supervision of the Barn Manager and Assistant Barn Manager, Barn Hand Intern assists in the care and well-being of all animals, maintain the cleanliness of the barn and grounds, and support various STRIDES programs and events. STRIDES provides therapeutic riding lessons for individuals with disabilities through Trinity Services, Inc., as well as riding lessons for the general public. The program also hosts birthday parties, petting zoo experiences, photo shoots, and other special events.Pay: $15/hourLocation: STRIDES, ManhattanReports ToBarn Manager and Assistant Barn ManagerNetwork Or DepartmentNetwork 6Essential FunctionsClean animal stalls, enclosures, and pasturesFeed and groom animalsMaintain barn cleanliness (sweeping, dusting, organizing)Tack up horses for lessonsWalk horses or assist as a side-walker during lessons, events, and partiesAssist in riding lessons, camps, petting zoo visits, and public eventsCare for tack and equipmentPerform other duties as assigned by management Skills And AbilitiesEquine experience is preferred but not requiredPhysical DemandsLift over 50 pounds from floor to waist unassistedPush and pull up to 75 poundsPerform deep knee squats and other physical movements as neededPush wheelchairs up to 200 poundsStand or sit for prolonged periodsOperate motor vehicles as requiredEngage in various physical activities, including balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motionClassificationNon-ExemptDisclaimerDuties and responsibilities may change, and new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
