Street Equipment Operator I or II

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Annual Salary Operator I: $41,498.70 + Operator II: $43,576.21 + Dependent on experience and qualifications. The City of Laramie is accepting applications for the Street Equipment Operator I or II position. This position performs a variety of duties, including maintaining street signs, paving streets and alleys, cleaning storm drains, operating dump trucks and motor graders, and constructing and repairing City streets. The City will pay for your Class B CDL licensing, $300 annually for clothing, and $200 for steel-toe boots. Ideal candidates will have operational experience in street maintenance and road construction, strong problem-solving skills that contribute to the department's progressive thinking, and be excited to serve their community. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain street signs and inventory; perform computer data entry. Use operate a variety of tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City streets, including manual tools and light and heavy power-driven equipment, such as a street sweeper, front-end loader, dump trucks, motor grader, water tanker, crack sealer, tamper, chipper, air compressor, jackhammer, rubber-tire roller, steel-wheel roller, patcher, snow blower, salt spreader, snow plow, sewer jet, backhoe, excavator, tandem truck and trailer, asphalt paver, trencher, tree chipper, welder, cutting torch, drill press, and tractor; and other tools as needed. Assist in the repair of curbs, gutters, and manholes, and in the paving of streets and alleys. Remove and replace road surface material and debris; load, transport, and unload stones, gravel, dirt, supplies, and equipment as needed. Install, repair, and clean storm drains, drainage ditches, and culverts; rebuild valley gutters and storm drains. Perform a variety of seasonal duties, including plowing and blowing snow, sanding and salting streets, cutting ice, and hanging City Christmas decorations. Break up concrete or asphalt; build and set forms; and pour cement for curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and sidewalk ramps. Fill, patch, and resurface holes, cracks, and ditches. Paint parking stalls, crosswalks, curbs, and street lines. Qualifications and Requirements A combination of the following experience and training would be qualifying. Street Equipment Operator I Experience in maintenance, repair, construction, and equipment operation. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a Commercial Driver License (Class B minimum) within 6 months. Street Equipment Operator II Three years of increasingly responsible journey-level experience in street maintenance, repair, and construction, as well as equipment operation. Why Join Our Team?
