This role leads technical accounting research, develops well-supported accounting positions, and ensures consistent application of U.S. GAAP across the organization.\nThis position partners cross-functionally to assess accounting implications, influence business decisions, and maintain robust accounting policies and internal controls in a fast-paced public company environment.\nKey Responsibilities:\nTechnical Accounting & Research\nResearch, interpret, and apply U.S. GAAP to complex and non-routine transactions.\nDevelop, document, and defend accounting conclusions with clear technical support.\nAccounting for Complex Transactions\nExecute and support accounting for areas such as:\nPurchase accounting\nIntangible assets and amortization\nInvestments\nHedging activities\nGoodwill and other technical accounting matters\nPrepare analyses, documentation, and journal entries, as applicable.\nPolicy Development & Standardization\nDevelop, update, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent application of GAAP.\nPromote standardization and scalability across accounting processes.\nNew Standards & Compliance\nMonitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments.\nLead impact assessments and coordinate implementation efforts with stakeholders.\nTechnical Documentation\nDraft clear, comprehensive technical accounting memoranda and supporting documentation for audit and internal purposes.\nEnsure documentation meets internal and external audit requirements.\nCross-Functional Partnership\nCollaborate with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Manufacturing Operations, and auditors to proactively identify and resolve accounting issues.\nProvide guidance on accounting implications of business initiatives and transactions.\nClose & Reporting Support\nSupport the monthly close process through preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and account analyses.\nEnsure accuracy and completeness within the ERP system.\nInternal Controls & Process Improvement\nSupport compliance with internal controls and accounting policies (SOX environment).\nIdentify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process improvement.\nStakeholder Communication\nCommunicate complex accounting matters clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders, including senior leadership.\nMaintain strong working relationships with auditors and business partners.\nAdditional Support\nProvide cross-functional and team support as needed.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.\nActive CPA certification.\n5–7 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or technical accounting.\nBig 4 public accounting experience.\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.\nDemonstrated ability to research, interpret, and document complex accounting issues.\nExperience working in a public company environment or supporting SEC reporting.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nExperience with complex transactions (e.g., M&A, revenue recognition, derivatives).\nFamiliarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.\nExperience in a SOX-compliant environment.\nExposure to manufacturing or multi-entity organizations.\nSkills:\nFinancial Statements Preparation, GAAP Research, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Controls, Memo Writing, Policy Making, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Technical Accounting Research\nEducation & Experience:\nMinimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience | Required\nPay Range:\n$88,900.00 - $116,655.00\nPay Range Explained:\nThis role in Portland, Oregon pays between $88,900.00 and $116,655.00 per year, depending on your experience, skills, and background.
