Job Title: Forward Deployed Software EngineerLocation: NYC, NY/ San Francisco, CAType: Full-Time/ PermanentJob Description:We are looking for Forward Deployed Engineers who combines strong software engineering ability with customer-facing ownership. This person will work closely with customers to understand complex technical problems, build and integrate solutions, deploy software into real-world environments, and feed product insight back into the engineering team.The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys being close to users, can move quickly in ambiguous environments, and is comfortable owning technical outcomes from discovery through to production.Key ResponsibilitiesWork directly with customers to understand technical requirements, business problems and operational workflows.Build, prototype and deploy software solutions that solve real customer problems.Integrate APIs, data sources, internal systems and third-party tools.Debug technical issues in live or complex customer environments.Partner closely with product, engineering, sales and customer success teams.Translate customer feedback into product improvements and technical recommendations.Support proof-of-concepts, onboarding, implementation and expansion activity.Own technical delivery across customer deployments from scoping through to successful adoption.Essential Experience2–7 years’ experience in software engineering, product engineering, solutions engineering or a similar technical role.Strong coding ability in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript or similar modern programming languages.Experience building, shipping and maintaining production software.Strong understanding of APIs, integrations, data workflows or backend systems.Experience working directly with customers, users, stakeholders or cross-functional teams.Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous and high-ownership environments.Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.Evidence of owning projects end-to-end, from problem definition through to delivery.Desirable ExperienceExperience in AI, machine learning, LLMs, agents, RAG, automation or data-heavy products.Previous experience in a startup, scale-up or high-growth technology company.Background in enterprise software, developer tools, fintech, healthcare, legaltech, data platforms or infrastructure.Experience building customer-facing tools, internal platforms, workflow automation or technical proof-of-concepts.Exposure to cloud platforms, databases, data pipelines, DevOps or deployment tooling.Previous experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Product Engineer, Founding Engineer, Customer Engineer or Implementation Engineer.Technical SkillsPython, TypeScript, JavaScript or similar programming languages.API design, integration and debugging.Data workflows, automation or pipeline development.Modern web or backend engineering.Cloud, infrastructure or deployment experience.Ability to work across product, engineering and customer environments.Familiarity with LLMs, agentic workflows, RAG, OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain or similar AI tooling is a plus.
