Technology Advocate (Columbus)
The Technology Advocate III is responsible for guiding engineering/development teams to become more effective in their adoption of emerging engineering practices. This role shapes advocacy vision by conveying engineering feedback and challenges to the leadership of the talent development team.Lead engineering/development outreach efforts, ensuring content is delivered effectively across multiple channels.Coach engineering/development teams on advanced software development practices.Provide guidance and lead efforts to create internal workshops and training resources.Lead efforts to review existing outreach efforts, workshops, educational programs, and training resources to identify gaps and recommend improvements.Lead internal workshops for engineer/development teams to build new software development skills.Organize and lead engineering/development events, webinars, and conferences.Collaborate with product management to ensure engineer/developer needs are prioritized in product roadmaps.Collaborate with and build strong partnerships with internal teams (e.g., VMO, TIG, IT Talent Development, etc.).Serve as a subject matter expert and leader regarding the mission of the IT Talent Development team while providing guidance and answering questions from colleagues and managers.Provide guidance and mentor the Developer Advocacy team, interns, and junior to mid-level developers.Requirement Skills & Knowledge:5+ years of experience in developer advocacy or related fields (e.g., software engineering, technical writing).Demonstrated expertise in public speaking, content creation, and community management for technical and non-technical audiences.Strong demonstrated understanding of software development principles and programming languages.Strong demonstrated expertise with developer tools, APIs, or software development frameworks.Strong demonstrated expertise with static content frameworks (e.g., Docusaurus, Jekyll, Hugo, docsify etc.).Proven track record of coaching software developers on emerging practices.Strong understanding of technical concepts with a proven ability to effectively translate them for internal audiences.Strong experience contributing to open-source projects.Demonstrated expertise in organizing events for developers.Proficient in community management and engagement strategies.Strong demonstrated experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and O365.Ability to apply a deep understanding of business strategy in guiding technology decisions and proactively identifying opportunities for IT to drive value.Ability to manage complex workloads efficiently, prioritize competing demands, and contribute to team productivity through proactive planning and execution.Able to communicate technical and strategic concepts clearly to varied audiences and deliver confident structured presentations that inform and influence stakeholders.Applies listening strategically to influence outcomes, drive alignment, support decision-making, and to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics and foster collaboration.
