The role involves designing and developing backend services, integrations, inventory synchronization, order processing, pricing logic, and marketplace integrations supporting a high-traffic online business.\nThis is not a typical feature-delivery role. You’ll participate in architectural discussions, solve complex engineering problems, and collaborate directly with technical and business stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions.\nCandidates must be available to work primarily during US business hours, with a preferred schedule of 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM CET.\nWhat we’re looking for:\nWe are not looking for someone who simply implements requirements.\nWe are looking for an engineer with a strong consultant mindset who:\nunderstands business goals before proposing technical solutions;\nis comfortable working with ambiguous requirements;\nasks the right questions instead of waiting for detailed specifications;\nevaluates architectural trade-offs between scalability, performance, operational complexity, and cost;\nindependently designs scalable solutions;\ncommunicates technical decisions clearly to both engineering and business stakeholders;\ntakes ownership of technical decisions and their business impact;\nleverages AI tools to improve engineering productivity while applying independent technical judgment.\nRequirements:\n8+ years of professional Java development experience.\nStrong expertise in Java SE and Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Spring Boot).\nSolid experience designing scalable backend systems and distributed architectures.\nStrong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns.\nExperience with microservices and event-driven architecture.\nExperience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies.\nStrong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.\nExperience working with AWS or other cloud platforms.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to evaluate scalability, performance, reliability and cost trade-offs.\nExperience participating in architectural discussions and technical decision-making.\nExperience communicating directly with business stakeholders.\nExcellent written and spoken English.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign scalable backend architecture for business-critical systems.\nTranslate business requirements into technical solutions.\nEvaluate architectural alternatives and justify technical decisions.\nImprove platform scalability, performance and operational efficiency.\nDesign integrations with internal systems and third-party services.\nParticipate in technical strategy and long-term architecture planning.\nCollaborate directly with the CTO, Tech Lead and business stakeholders.\nMentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.\nPromote AI-assisted engineering workflows across the development process.\nTake ownership of complex technical domains from design through delivery.\nNice to have:\nSAP Commerce (Hybris).\nMarketplace or e-commerce experience.\nHigh-load distributed systems.\nAutomotive, retail or e-commerce background.\nStartup experience.\nExperience working directly with CTOs, founders or product
