Global Mobility Tax Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTIONPlease complete the following details.Schedule : 20-30 hours per week spread across Monday to Friday (5 days per week)Position Title : Global Mobility Tax SpecialistPosition Overview : The Global Mobility Tax Specialist will be responsible for General Mills' global mobility individual tax, compensation reporting and finance processes, working with teammates and external providers in the U.S. and abroad to advise on mobility individual tax concepts, drive compliance and continuous improvement in the mobility program, and contribute to the overall mobility stakeholder experience. The Global Mobility Tax Senior Specialist will serve as a subject matter specialist regarding global assignment individual tax projects and inquiries and will partner closely with finance, payroll, compensation, stock & deferred compensation, business contacts, the mobility team, and mobility vendors. This role requires you to navigate the complexity of the U.S. and non-U.S. individual tax rules as they relate to General Mills' global assignment population and emerging mobility needs for our business.This role will offer an outstanding opportunity to develop core capabilities around situational agility, enterprise advocacy and partnership for impact.Key Accountabilties :Serve as the mobility tax subject matter expert (SME)First point of consultation for mobility team, HR business partners, cross functional groups, and assignees related to global assignment cost estimates, assignment planning, assignee questions and business inquiriesOversight and application of the mobility tax programs and for the escalation of policy issuesProvide individual tax guidance for cross border remote work requestsConduct periodic benchmarking reviews of tax policy provisionsProvide communications and education sessions for stakeholdersMonitor individual tax law changes and determine any process changes needed and the cost impact to tax equalization costsCultivate and foster strong working relationships with mobility team, finance, payroll, compensation, corporate tax, mobility vendors, assignees, business partners and other stakeholdersManage escalations related to mobility tax mattersProvide mobility tax process oversight, regular reporting, and identify improvementsTax equalization collection and paymentsEnd-to-end payment, invoice, and gross-up processes for global and domestic mobilityShadow payroll arrangementsSecondment agreementsSocial security agreementsAnnual compensation, hypothetical tax, and social tax adjustment reviewReview of annual equity vesting for mobile populationSupport new and existing technology platforms in the preparation of cost estimates, assignment packages and orientation for potential assigneesVendor partnershipEngage in vendor relationships to ensure compliance and delivery of services to aiming-higher standardsReview authorization lists for assignees eligible for tax provider servicesReview vendor hypothetical tax tables and tax model assumptions included and identify adjustments and/or improved assignee communication, where neededFinal review of vendor tax invoices and out of scope feesAnnual review and sign off of company tax positions with vendorMinimum Qualifications :Minimum 5 years of mobility tax experienceStrong technical knowledge of expatriate tax concepts along with practical tax experience with cross-border assignmentsGeneral understanding of international individual tax regimes and ability to independently conduct research and interpret individual tax systemsFamiliarity with international assignment tax policy mechanics and computations, interpretation of such policies, and communication of policy aspects to assignees and stakeholdersExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong customer service orientationStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong multi-tasker with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple work assignmentsSelf-motivated, works with minimal supervision, and is capable to work under time constraints and deadlinesExtensive consultative experience.
