We're a small, fast-moving team on a mission to build the best machine shop in the United States and help accelerate innovation. Our parts are in space, on the Moon, and helping take humans further into space than ever before. We do that work on Hermle 5-axis machines and automation cells — some of the most advanced equipment in the industry — with a culture that trusts people to do great work on their own terms.\nThere are no set hours here. No one is looking over your shoulder. We believe our team members are adults — we give you flexibility, autonomy, and the best tools in the industry, and in return we expect excellent communication, follow-through, and a drive to constantly get better. Life happens, and we think giving people room to deal with it is exactly what lets them do their best work.\nThe Role\nWe're looking for a skilled CNC Programmer & Machinist with strong 5-axis experience to join our team. You'll own your work from programming through prove-out, tackling complex parts on top-tier equipment. This isn't a role where someone hands you a program and tells you to push the green button — you'll be developing processes, solving problems, and finding ways to make things run better every day.\nIf you want to work somewhere that respects your expertise, gives you real ownership, and challenges you with interesting work, keep reading.\nWhat You'll Do\nProgram and machine complex parts on Hermle 5-axis machines using advanced CAM software.\nDevelop and optimize manufacturing processes including tooling selection, fixturing, and material strategies.\nRun prove-outs, dial in processes, and continuously look for ways to reduce cycle times and improve quality.\nCreate clear, thorough setup documentation in our ERP system (Fulcrum — it's actually good).\nTroubleshoot machining issues on the fly to keep machines running and parts in spec.\nApply advanced techniques like probing, tool breakage detection, and macro programming to increase reliability.\nManage multiple projects and priorities while keeping quality and delivery on track.\nShare knowledge and support teammates — we're a small team and everyone lifts each other up.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired:\n4+ years of hands-on CNC programming and machining experience (or an engineering degree with 2+ years of CNC programming).\nStrong 5-axis programming and machining skills.\nSolid understanding of tooling, cutting strategies, and manufacturing processes.\nProficiency in GD&T and ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.\nComfortable with basic metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).\nA self-starter mentality — you don't need someone telling you what to do next.\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work well in a small, collaborative team.\nYou do what you say you'll do.\nPreferred:\nExperience with Autodesk Fusion 360 or Inventor.\nExperience with Hermle 5-axis machines and Heidenhain controls.\nFamiliarity with Haas controllers.\nBackground in AS9100 or aerospace manufacturing environments.\nExperience programming for automation cells.\nExperience machining titanium, heat-treated stainless steel, and superalloys.\nWhy Method MFG?\nThe equipment is serious. Hermle 5-axis machines, automation cells, and the latest tooling — not worn-out equipment held together with hope.\nThe autonomy is real. No micromanagement. No rigid schedules. You own your work and have the freedom to make decisions and drive improvements.\nThe work matters. Our parts are on the Moon and in orbit. You'll be machining components that are pushing the boundaries of human space exploration — not making commodity widgets.\nThe team is small and tight. Your ideas and input carry real weight here. There's no bureaucracy standing between you and making things better.\nGrowth is built in. We're scaling, and team members who bring skill and initiative have real room to grow with us.\nHow to Apply\nIf you're a machinist who takes pride in your craft, wants to work with the best equipment, and is ready for a shop that trusts you to be great — we want to hear from you.\nPay: $28.00 - $50.00 per hour\nBenefits:\nHealth insurance\nPaid time off\nApplication Question(s):\nWhy do you want to work at Method Mfg?\nWork Location: In person","company":"Method Manufacturing","rawCompany":"method manufacturing","city":"Buda","state":"TX","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-07-18T17:51:47.321Z","occupations":[{"code":"51-4041.00","title":"Machinists","slug":"machinists"},{"code":"51-9162.00","title":"Computer Numerically Controlled Tool Programmers","slug":"computer-numerically-controlled-tool-programmers"},{"code":"51-9161.00","title":"Computer Numerically Controlled Tool Operators","slug":"computer-numerically-controlled-tool-operators"}],"industries":[{"code":"332710","title":"Machine Shops","slug":"machine-shops"},{"code":"332721","title":"Precision Turned Product Manufacturing","slug":"precision-turned-product-manufacturing"},{"code":"333248","title":"All Other Industrial Machinery Manufacturing","slug":"all-other-industrial-machinery-manufacturing"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"CNC Programmer & Machinist (5-Axis)","description":"CNC Programmer & Machinist (5-Axis) — Method MFG\nLocation: Austin, TX Position Type: Full-Time Pay: $28.00 – $45.00 per hour\nAbout Method MFG\nMethod MFG isn't a typical machine shop — and we're not trying to be one.
