Responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of sterile supplies for the center.\nEssential Responsibilities will include the following, and other duties may be assigned.\nSterilization Duties:\nAdheres to center sterilization and infection control standards for cleaning and sterilizing contaminated items or supplies.\nEnsures instruments and surgical trays are clean, sterile, assembled, and ready prior to procedures.\nEnsures the availability of adequate levels of sterile instruments and supplies meet the demands of the surgery schedule.\nChecks sterile items for substitution needs by replacing damaged, expired, or missing instruments.\nMaintains inventory by rotating, sorting, wrapping, packaging, and appropriately labeling instruments and supplies.\nInserts sterilization indicators inside all packages and report any lost instruments to appropriate staff.\nMonitors autoclaves for proper temperatures and ensures repair orders are reported to supervisors or representatives responsible for escalated maintenance.\nMaintenance Duties:\nEnsures instrument maintenance by proactively inspecting instrumentation for defects and/or failures to meet company standards.\nEnsures proper instrumentation circulation by coordinating repairs, sharpening, and removing instrumentation that requires repair services.\nLubricates instruments as needed.\nMaintains accurate records for repaired or maintained instruments.\nOther Duties:\nAssists operating room personnel by ensuring operating rooms are clean, patients are transported, and necessary case information is accurately transcribed.\nAssists with surgical preps and patient positioning.\nUnpacks, stocks, and re-stocks operating room shelves with supplies needed to assist with procedural efficiency.\nParticipates as a member of the team to promote a positive working environment, and assist other technicians when requested or necessary.\nIdentifies and provides suggestions on how to help develop departmental policies and procedures concerning patient care, patient flow, and operational efficiency.\nQualifications: Successful individuals who perform the responsibilities of this position must perform their essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and abilities required.
