Metro Supply Chain is a 2024 winner of the Canada's Best Managed Companies program, recognized for its strategic expertise, culture of innovation and commitment to its people and local communities.Job SummaryReporting to the Business Unit Controller, you will support the preparation of all accounting and finance responsibilities at the division level, such as all accounting entries, closing week support, preparing various financial analyses, preparing business plan schedules and templates supporting periodic forecasting. You will also ensure compliance with all accounting and company policies/procedures within the designated areas and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.ResponsibilitiesSupport communication with Operations Management, Operational Finance, and FP&A on financial performance relative to division costs, with a focus on controllable costsEnsure the timely and quality completion of reporting processes, including monthly P&Ls, statistical/operational reporting, and ad hoc analysis, to provide effective and precise information to site and client management.Close and analyze Customer's monthly Profit and Loss statements (P&Ls) and prepare monthly Customer Contract reconciliations.Assist with the preparation and upload of division’s annual business plan (corporate & customer) and biweekly financial forecastsPrepare month-end / year-end journal entries, including payroll entries, for specific business units and/or legal entities in an accurate and timely manner.Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the legal entity.Support the closing of the division’s books with detailed review of key financial line details, including shrink, controllable expenses, administrative, and other income expenses.Assist with the maintenance of all key financial reporting for divisionEvaluate division financial statements for inconsistencies with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate accounting policies within the designated areas; communicate exceptions to Business Unit Controller.Partner with other Finance & Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingAssist with internal and external audit process and annual tax return info requests.Manage relationships effectively by fostering productive and cordial connections with customers, operations, and other departments.Assesses current accounting processes, analyzes routine and non-routine transactions, and offers recommendations for process improvements.Maintain control environment that supports complete/accurate financial reporting, including support/execution of division controls.Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodationQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting related area3+ years of experience in accounting/financeExcellent oral/written communication skillsStrong attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience with ERP system, such as Microsoft Dynamics. Experience with VENA, Dodeca, Tableau, Coupa, and JDA are an assetExcellent computer skills in MS Office, such as Excel, and Power BI.
