To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.Why Join Our Team?As part of the Navigation Systems Design group, you will lead and support systems engineering activities for the design and development of Flight Management Systems (FMS).You’ll contribute across the full lifecycle of avionics functions and aircraft modernization projects, gaining deep knowledge of CMC products, system architecture, hardware, algorithms, and industry standards—while helping shape successful, high-impact solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze customer requirements, develop technical responses, and deliver effective solutionsCollaborate with internal teams, contractors, and customers to evaluate design impacts and balance cost, schedule, and performanceDesign and integrate avionics systems, ensuring functional and efficient system architectureCoordinate with hardware and software teams throughout developmentLead system validation and verification, translating designs into implementable solutionsSupport all phases of the system lifecycle: requirements, design, development, testing, and deploymentDevelop and review system specifications and technical documentationPlan and participate in system integration and verification testing (e.g., FMS with GPS, autopilot, EFIS, communications, and surveillance systems)Drive continuous improvement in processes and productsApply industry standards and best practices to product designServe as a subject matter expert, supporting airworthiness certification (e.g., Transport Canada CAN-TSO)Travel occasionally as requiredWhat You Bring (Required Qualifications)Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering5+ years of experience in avionics systems development, validation, or verification (e.g., FMS, sensors, displays, autopilot)Experience with real-time embedded systems and hardware/software integrationHands-on experience with simulators, emulators, and test equipmentKnowledge of avionics standards (e.g., DO-178, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429)Understanding of FMS functions (ARINC 702A), RNP, and FANS datalinkFamiliarity with relevant regulations (FAA, RTCA, EASA)What Sets You Apart (Preferred Qualifications)Proficiency in C/C++Experience with navigation, guidance, display, or simulation systemsFamiliarity with model-based development tools (e.g., Rhapsody, Simulink, SCADE)Knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) standardsUnderstanding of military radio functionsPilot experiencePrior hands-on experience in FMS design and developmentWhat We OfferFast paced environment with significant autonomy¨Start up¨ work environment in a well-established organization401K Match ProgramBCBS Medical, HSA with Company contribution, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability InsuranceGenerous PTO PlanAt CMC, we pride ourselves on delivering a Total Rewards package that will attract, engage and retain the top talent.
