Sr/Prin Cosmetic Scientist/Formulator, Tech Support

About the jobThe Evolved By Nature Applications team is looking for a Senior/Principal Cosmetic Scientist/Formulator, Technical Support to serve as a technical steward to further the commercial use of Evolved By Nature cosmetic ingredients. The individual will develop skincare, haircare and body care formulations for the personal care industry, train formulators at channel partner locations such as CMO’s and distributors, and provide remote technical support on the use of Evolved By Nature ingredients. The role blends deep formulation science, hands-on laboratory innovation, and customer-facing technical leadership. In addition, this role will support future ingredient development as required and will execute new product development activities from prototype through product launch, coordinating both internal and external studies to support product claims substantiation, managing project deliverables, and upholding project timelines. Responsibilities: Become familiar with Evolved By Nature’s proprietary biomaterials ingredient platform and articulate its material science, performance advantages, and cosmetic formulation implications to external partners on technical calls and in-person meetingsRapidly innovate effective skin, hair and body care formulations incorporating Activated Silk™ peptides to meet customer and marketing briefsBuild strong, collaborative relationships with external partners (brands, contract manufacturers, formulators, etc) to help advance the use of Activated Silk technology in Personal CareProvide technical support to customers and external formulators, including product training, troubleshooting and scale-up guidance.Create, test, and optimize new recipes for chassis formulas for skin, hair, and body care products, developing a library of formulations that can be modified to meet desired claims, texture, stability, and efficacyDesign, execute, document, and/or oversee study plans and product validationsCoordinate and/or conduct hands-on product testing on lab batches, finished goods, prototype formulas and raw materials, such as QC checks, stability testing and sample evaluationsGenerate and/or review product development documents (e.g., Raw Material Qualification forms, Design transfer documents, Manufacturing Procedures, Stability studies summaries and SOPs)Maintain accurate, detailed records of raw materials, formula iterations, and testing results. Generate reports and presentations in a timely mannerContribute to successful resolution of technical issues when they ariseProvide technical expertise and support as needed for other business unitsTravel domestically (50% of time) to customer sites for training and troubleshootingQualifications:MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science, with 5+ years industry experience, ORBS in one of the above disciplines with 10+ years industry experienceStrong technical foundation in formulated cosmetic products including emulsions, surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids, and an understanding of material chemistrySkills & Abilities:Deep understanding of personal care formulation science and product architectureDemonstrated experience training others in lab techniques and formulation best practicesDemonstrated experience providing technical support to multiple external partners at onceAbility to work independently to plan, develop, execute and troubleshoot in support of projectsExtensive technical knowledge of chemistry, polymers, colorants, emulsions, surfactants, rheology modifiers and active ingredientsDemonstrated experience with product development, product launches and/or stage gate process.Advanced reporting, designing and data analytic skillsExcellent problem-solving abilities, ability to adapt to change and grasp new concepts and techniques quicklyAbility to communicate scientific concepts to experts and non-experts across the organization and external customersFamiliar with Good Laboratory Practices and Good Documentation PracticesAbility to extract key facts from complex information and present concise summaries to managementComfort working under pressure with tight timelines
