Acting as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER), you will exercise delegated authority from the FAA to approve engineering data, support Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs), Parts Manufacturer Approvals (PMAs), and major repairs. You will:\nReview, evaluate, and approve engineering data and substantiation packages in accordance with FAA regulations and guidance.\nAct as an authorized FAA DER in assigned discipline(s), such as Structures, Systems & Equipment, Electrical, or Powerplant.\nPrepare and approve certification reports, test plans, and compliance documentation.\nEnsure certification activities comply with FAR Part 21, Part 25, Part 43, and other applicable regulations.\nInterface with FAA, EASA, and other regulatory authorities regarding certification projects.\nProvide technical guidance to engineering teams during design and development to ensure certifiability of modifications and components.\nSupport the development and approval of STCs, PMAs, and major repair or alteration approvals.\nParticipate in conformity inspections, witnessing of tests, and regulatory compliance activities.\nCollaborate with quality and compliance teams to prepare for FAA and customer audits.\nMaintain detailed records of approved data, test results, and certification activities.\nMentor engineers and provide training on certification requirements, policies, and procedures.\nManage multiple certification projects under tight deadlines.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives to enhance certification processes and compliance.\nPerform other duties as assigned to support engineering, certification, and program objectives.\n\nWHAT YOU BRING:\nYou’ll thrive in this role if you bring:\nBachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related field.\nFAA DER delegation in appropriate discipline(s) required.\n10+ years of experience in aircraft certification, engineering, or related aerospace field.\nStrong knowledge of FAA and EASA certification processes, including STCs, PMAs, and major repair approvals.\nExperience preparing and reviewing compliance data, reports, and substantiation documentation.\nProficiency in engineering analysis tools relevant to your discipline (e.g., structural analysis, electrical loads, systems testing).\nFamiliarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.\nStrong organizational skills, attention to detail, and regulatory compliance mindset.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with regulators, customers, and internal teams.\nAbility to manage multiple certification projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.\nTeam-oriented and able to work independently, cross-functionally, and across remote locations.\nMust be willing to work in a specific region and potentially relocate to support that region.\nMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.\nMust submit to and pass pre-employment drug testing and any applicable company/FAA Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program that may be required.\nMust be able to pass required background checks, including a 10-year TSA check if airport access or badging is required.\n\n**DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS ABOVE**\n\nDue to the heavy volume of replies we receive; we respectfully cannot accept resumes which are received by fax nor individual inquiries by phone.\n\nThis position is not open to agencies or recruiting firms.\n\nL2 Aviation is an equal opportunity employer and promotes a drug-free environment.
