The React Native Engineer plays a critical role in that mission by building the mobile application that connects field teams directly to the Digital Platform.\n\nYou own the mobile experience end to end, from the interface field engineers, inspectors, and surveyors use on job sites to the data flows that move field inputs into the platform. The application you build captures the raw material that powers downstream AI-driven workflows and engineering deliverables.\n\nThis is a field-first engineering role. You design for real-world conditions where connectivity is inconsistent, environments are demanding, and users are focused on the job, not the software. You build reliable, intuitive mobile experiences that support offline workflows, synchronize data seamlessly, and integrate with device capabilities such as GPS and camera.\n\nYou work closely with the Lead Engineer, Applied AI Engineer, and Senior Product Designer to ensure the mobile application aligns with platform architecture and design standards. You also partner with Product Support Analysts and field teams to understand how the app is used in practice and continuously improve usability and data quality.\n\nThis role requires strong React Native expertise, experience building production mobile applications, and a focus on performance, reliability, and user experience in field environments. You are motivated by building tools that work when and where they are needed most.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nMobile Application Development\nDesign, build, and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native\nDevelop intuitive user interfaces for field data capture and interaction\nEnsure high performance and responsiveness across a range of mobile devices\nMaintain code quality, testing, and application stability\nOffline-First Architecture and Data Synchronization\nDesign and implement offline-capable workflows for unreliable connectivity environments\nBuild robust data synchronization mechanisms between mobile devices and backend systems\nHandle conflict resolution, data integrity, and retry logic for field-collected data\nOptimize performance for low-bandwidth and intermittent network conditions\nNative Device Integration\nIntegrate with device capabilities such as GPS, camera, photo capture, and sensors\nBuild workflows for capturing, storing, and transmitting images and geospatial data\nEnsure seamless interaction between native modules and React Native components\nPlatform Integration\nIntegrate mobile applications with backend APIs and platform services\nEnsure field data flows cleanly into the data and AI layers of the platform\nCollaborate with backend and AI engineers to support end-to-end workflows\nMaintain consistency with platform architecture and data models\nUser Experience and Field Validation\nPartner with the Senior Product Designer to implement consistent, intuitive user experiences\nWork with Product Support Analysts to identify usability issues and friction points\nIncorporate feedback from field users to improve workflows and adoption\nParticipate in field engagements or project hackathons to understand real-world usage\nCI/CD and Release Management\nBuild and maintain mobile CI/CD pipelines for iOS and Android deployments\nManage app releases, versioning, and distribution processes\nMonitor application performance and resolve production issues\n\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n\n4+ years of experience in mobile application development\nStrong proficiency in React Native and TypeScript\nExperience building and deploying cross-platform applications for iOS and Android\nExperience designing and implementing offline-first mobile applications\nExperience with data synchronization, conflict resolution, and mobile data storage\nExperience integrating native device capabilities such as GPS, camera, and sensors\nExperience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs\nFamiliarity with mobile CI/CD pipelines and app deployment processes\nStrong understanding of mobile performance optimization and debugging\nExperience working in agile, product-oriented development environments\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills\nExperience building applications for field-based professionals in construction, engineering, utilities, or similar industries is a strong advantage\nFamiliarity with geospatial data, mapping, or location-based services is a plus\nExperience working with offline data capture and synchronization at scale is highly preferred\nCuriosity about how field teams operate and how technology can improve their workflows\nAbility to operate in a fast-paced environment with evolving product requirements\n\nAbout Trilon\n\nTrilon was formed with the vision of building the next Top 20 infrastructure consulting firm in North America by bringing together some of the nation’s best infrastructure consulting firms, focused on delivering practical and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
