Our quickly growing company is ready for a full time individual to manage all of our on-site accounting and reporting. Ideal candidates for this position will be self starters with experience in several areas of accounting including some payroll experience.\nResponsibilities:\nThis position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and standards.\nManage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable\nPerform monthly bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and GL reviews in QuickBooks Online\nPrepare monthly financial reports\nMaintain accurate job costing, revenue classification, and chart of accounts\nCoordinate and oversee multi-system workflows across systems\nSupport annual tax preparation, audit readiness, and insurance audits (workers' comp, general liability)\nManage vendor relationships, billing disputes, and payment processing\nIdentify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency\nAdminister bi-weekly payroll processing outside payroll processor for 20+ employees\nMaintain compliance with state & local sales tax guidelines\nManage employee onboarding and offboarding documentation, including I-9s, W-4s, and direct deposit\nMaintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures\nOversight, training and mentoring of accounting office personnel\nPartner with the Owner and any outside Financial Consultants to manage the financial results of the company.\nPromote adherence to Company policies and internal controls\nProactively manage and safeguard company assets\nActively manage expense submission, structure and vendors\nPrepare any weekly and monthly reports required by the management team\nReconcile all accounts monthly and insure the accuracy of posted transactions.\nCash & Credit Management, projections and reconciliations\nSupport annual tax preparation, audit readiness, and insurance audits (workers' comp, general liability)\nQualifications:\nThe controller candidate should have a minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent Controller experience (3+ years preferred).\nAbility to be analytical and proactive with problem solving and multi-tasking\nStrong, hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks Online — daily operational use required\nExperience with HR administration: benefits, compliance, employee relations\nSelf-directed with strong organizational skills and high attention to detail\nExperience in companies with 30-50+ employees and fleet/vehicle operations (preferred)\nFull-cycle accounting experience, preferably in a service-based or field service company\nBenefits:\nFast-paced, friendly work environment\nHealth Insurance available after initial waiting period\nPaid vacation\n401(k) Matching\nPay: $80,000-90,000 annually based commensurate with experience.\nJob Type: Full-time, on site.\nWhy Join Western Excavation?\nAt Western Excavation, we value our employees and offer a supportive environment where your skills and hard work are recognized.
