Job Description Full Time Practice Manager Abraham's Equine Clinic is located on 29 acres in southeastern Cedar Rapids, and provides comprehensive equine veterinary care in a modern, full-service facility. The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including an in-house laboratory, radiology suite, endoscopy, and a fully equipped surgery suite. A highlight of the facility is the Reproduction Center, home to many of the Midwest's leading equine sires. Designed to support a successful breeding program, the center combines advanced reproductive technology with experienced veterinary expertise to promote fertility and breeding success. About the Role As Practice Manager, you will serve as a key member of the leadership team, working in close collaboration with our Managing Veterinarian and support staff to ensure smooth operations, exceptional client service, and a thriving team culture across two locations. This role is ideal for a driven, organized, and team-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced equine environment. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategic PlanningPartner with the Managing Veterinarian to set and achieve short- and long-term strategic goalsFoster a supportive and collaborative team culture focused on high-quality patient care and serviceLead staff meetings, team-building initiatives, and internal communicationsChampion change and promote best practices across all areas of operations Operations ManagementOversee day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring seamless clinic and ambulatory workflowsManage compliance with OSHA, DEA, and other regulatory standardsMaintain the hospital schedule and optimize labor utilizationSupervise fleet maintenance, facility repairs, and IT needs Team & HR ManagementLead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of support staffSupervise performance management, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary actionsMaintain accurate licensure, CE records, and credentialing documentation for veterinarians Client Service & Community EngagementEnsure exceptional client service, resolving issues with professionalism and empathyImplement strategies to grow client engagement and local referralsSupport educational outreach and marketing through Abrahams' digital presence and local events Financial ManagementManage accounts receivable/payable, bank deposits, and invoice auditsOversee payroll processing and DVM production calculationsMonitor and control inventory and facility expensesCollaborate on budgeting and forecasting to support clinic growth QualificationsBachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field (preferred)3-5 years of experience in a veterinary or medical practice leadership roleStrong knowledge of HR best practices, financial reporting, and inventory controlProficiency in Microsoft Office and practice management software (EzyVet experience is a plus!)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsHorse industry background or equine experience strongly preferred Why Abrahams Equine Clinic?Work with a nationally respected team of veterinary professionalsBe part of a legacy of client trust and equine health that spans generationsEnjoy a supportive workplace culture rooted in teamwork, respect, and continuous learningLocated in the beautiful rolling countryside near Cedar Rapids, Iowa-offering access to rural charm and metropolitan convenience For more details please contact - debbie.hughes@nva.com or call/text: 629-292-3853 #LI-DH1 National Veterinary Associates is a leading global pet care organization united in the love of animals and the people who love them.
