Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineer
Atlas Connections has partnered with a multidisciplinary engineering firm to find a Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineer for their Lenexa, KS office. This is an opportunity to join an integrated team of architects, engineers, commissioning specialists, project managers, and construction managers working on life sciences, mission critical, and industrial projects.What You'll DoDepending on experience, lead or assist in code consulting, planning, design, and commissioning of fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, life safety systems, and hazardous material storage and use.Draft and model in AutoCAD and RevitPrepare and review specificationsPerform hydraulic calculationsReview shop drawings and calculationsConduct reviews of other firms' designs for third-party commissioning, peer review, or permittingNavigate, teach, and apply NFPA, ICC, and FM Global codes and standardsTrack schedules and coordinate with project managers across multiple concurrent projectsAttend project meetings and coordinate with team members across engineering disciplinesVisit job sites to verify existing conditions, observe construction progress, witness acceptance testing, and conduct third-party permitting inspections (approximately 5–10% travel)What You BringBachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related engineering discipline7+ years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and life safety designPassed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering ExamPE license preferred; pursuit of PE expected upon obtaining necessary work experienceWorking knowledge of AutoCAD and/or RevitStrong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented with excellent reading comprehensionAbility to manage frequent schedule changes and unexpected events.
