This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can translate technical needs into reliable software and collaborate effectively with researchers and fellow engineers.You will contribute to backend services, REST APIs, and sandbox environments that support research workflows. You will help integrate AI capabilities into existing or new software systems, paying close attention to quality, security, scalability, and maintainability. The role also offers opportunities to mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and help shape implementation decisions and technical direction.The successful candidate will be comfortable working through ambiguous problems, evaluating design options, and delivering practical solutions. You will help ensure that research processes are repeatable and that software behavior can be understood, tested, and improved by the broader team.QualificationsCandidates should have professional software engineering experience and a strong foundation in designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining production-quality software. Experience building backend services and REST APIs is important, as is familiarity with software architecture, data handling, debugging, and integration across systems.The ideal candidate has experience incorporating AI or machine learning capabilities into software applications and can assess how those capabilities fit within established engineering workflows. Familiarity with sandboxed environments, reproducible research practices, and secure software development is valuable. Candidates should be able to communicate technical concepts clearly, collaborate with researchers and engineers, and contribute constructively to design discussions.We are looking for someone who takes ownership of work, approaches problems methodically, and balances delivery needs with long-term software quality. Experience mentoring teammates or guiding technical implementation is also beneficial. Integrate AI-enabled functionality into software systems and assess its performance, reliability, and suitability for intended workflows.Work closely with researchers and engineers to understand requirements, refine technical approaches, and deliver usable solutions. Create and maintain tests, documentation, and repeatable processes that support reliable research and ongoing development. Identify and resolve defects, improve existing systems, and contribute to code reviews and engineering standards.Support technical planning and architecture discussions, communicate risks and trade-offs, and help guide implementation decisions.
