A $5,000 sign on bonu s is being offered to external applicants who are certified in sterile processing.\r\nA Brief OverviewThe Sterile Processing Technician role is responsible for receiving, sorting, decontaminating, reassembling, packaging, sterilizing, storing and distributing reusable patient care equipment, instrument trays and supplies.\r\nWhat You Will DoPerforms decontamination procedure\r\nPrepares reusable patient care items for sterilization\r\nSterilization using appropriate sterilization methods\r\nPicks surgical case carts, stores and distribute reusable patient care equipment, instrument trays and supplies\r\nParticipates as a productive member of the O.R. processing team\r\nMaintains positive relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers\r\nParticipates as a productive member of the perioperative process team\r\nAdditional ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.\r\nComplies with all policies and standards.\r\nFor specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.\r\nMust abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.\r\nEducationHigh School Equivalent / GED (Required)\r\nGraduate of a Sterile Processing program (Preferred)\r\nWork ExperiencePrevious hospital central service instrument decontamination and assembly, inventory or distribution experience (Preferred)\r\nKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesBasic medical terminology (Preferred proficiency)\r\nSteam, EtO, Plasma, Peracetic Acid, Dry Heat, and liquid sterilants. (Required proficiency)\r\nKnowledge of: Equipment, sterilizers, washers, instruments, and tray assembly. (Required proficiency)\r\nGood manual dexterity. (Required proficiency)\r\nAttention to details. (Required proficiency)\r\nLicenses and CertificationsCertification through CBSPD or HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) is preferred.\r\nIn support of UH's organizational goal to maintain a highly qualified sterile processing workforce, non-certified Sterile Processing Technicians are expected to actively pursue certification within one year of hire and maintain certification once obtained.
