Level of responsibility, title, and compensation will commensurate with experience and qualifications.\n\nJob Summary\nAs part of Orion Engineers + Constructors Engineering Services Department, the Process Engineer supports the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of process systems across oil and gas, chemicals, and related industrial facilities. This role is responsible for process design, simulation, equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, and process safety evaluations, while working closely with multidisciplinary teams from early concept development through detailed engineering and implementation.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nDevelop and update process design deliverables, including heat and material balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).\nPerform process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, ProMax, or equivalent software to support design, debottlenecking, and optimization studies.\nConduct hydraulic calculations and line sizing for liquid, gas, and multiphase piping systems.\nSize and specify process equipment (pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, control valves) and prepare associated process datasheets.\nSupport relief system and flare design, including identification of relief scenarios, calculation of relief loads, and sizing of Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs) in accordance with applicable codes and standards.\nParticipate in process safety activities (HAZOP, PHA, SIL reviews) and incorporate recommendations into process and instrumentation designs.\nPrepare and review technical documentation, including design reports, calculations, datasheets, and engineering memoranda.\nCoordinate with piping, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, and project management teams to ensure alignment of process design with overall project objectives.\nReview and comment on vendor documentation and package designs to confirm consistency with process requirements and project specifications.\nProvide technical support for commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of process systems, as needed.\nContribute process input to project planning activities, including scope definition, estimating, and schedule development.\nCommunicate clearly with internal stakeholders and clients, presenting technical findings and recommendations in a concise, actionable manner.\nPerform other related duties as assigned to support project and departmental objectives.\n\nSkills and Qualifications\nBachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nApproximately 5 to 20+ years of relevant process engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, refining, or related industries.\nHands on experience with process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, ProMax, or similar tools.\nStrong understanding of process design fundamentals, fluid flow, heat transfer, and equipment sizing.\nDemonstrated experience generating and working with PFDs, P&IDs, and process datasheets.\nFamiliarity with industry standards and codes applicable to process and relief system design.\nExperience with relief system analysis and flare system evaluation.\nPrior involvement in HAZOP/PHA studies and process safety assessments.\nProven track record of leading work packages, mentoring engineers, and interfacing with clients, consistent with Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Lead Process Engineer levels.\nExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.\nAbility to identify and solve complex problems, using both creative and analytical approaches.\nProficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).\nValid driver’s license and suitable driving record that meets company driver requirements, with the ability to obtain a TWIC card if required.\nAbility to work effectively in a multi discipline, fast paced environment.\nAbility to read and understand policies, procedures, and processes, and apply them consistently.\nStrong written and oral communication skills.\nOrganized, goal driven, and self motivated, with a commitment to high quality.\nConsistent record of excellent attendance and work performance.\nAbility to pass an approved background check.\nAbility to pass a drug and alcohol test and participate in random drug testing as required.\nAs a condition of employment, candidates must be eligible to work in the United States in accordance with applicable law.
