Utility Clerk (DC)
OverviewPlease note this position is based in our Glendale, AZ Distribution Center. The Outbound shift starts at 2:00pm. The Utility Clerk keeps the warehouse facility in a clean and orderly condition. This position performs heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, dusting, washing walls and glass, and removing any uncleanly conditions. Duties include notifying management of need for repairs, cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk, maintaining supplies in bathrooms and break rooms, and operating a powered scrubber.Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Service, clean, and supply restroomsGather and empty trashClean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming themSweep, mop and dust warehouse storage areas, breakroom and offices. This may be done by hand or with a powered sweeper/scrubber, or bothFollow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixturesMix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specificationsNotify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systemsRequisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance dutiesClean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegeesClean and polish furniture and fixtures•Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipmentMove heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucksStack debris and trash such as cardboard, tape, shrink-wrap, and sticks of paper, resulting from distribution functions. Transport these items by using a pallet jack to a trash compactor and dumpOther Duties as assignedQualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities & Physical Requirements)* Minimum one year of experience in commercial cleaning; warehouse experience preferred• Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules• Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals• Ability to follow instructions and managing time to ensure all work gets completed daily• Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, andcleaning compounds and solutions• Knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used to clean buildings and furniture• Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing, stripping, and waxing compounds• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations• Knowledge of building and property security proceduresPhysical Requirements:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position or that a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
