As our Test Engineer, you will be the primary interface between our Chemistry team and hardware - translating reaction chemistry into test protocols, validating that our reactors and process modules perform safely and predictably against the chemistry's requirements. The ideal candidate has previously owned test execution on hazardous or safety-critical chemical hardware end-to-end and is comfortable working shoulder-to-shoulder with chemists to bridge bench-scale reaction data and full-scale process performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn test planning and execution for ATP's reactors and modular process systems, from bench-scale trials through pilot and production-scale testing\nWork directly with the Process Development team to translate reaction requirements, kinetics, and safety envelopes into test protocols and acceptance criteria\nDesign and run test protocols to validate process performance, yield, and safety margins under real operating conditions\nInstrument test setups with sensors for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and concentration; capture and analyze data acquisition results\nExecute hardware-in-the-loop testing, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing on skidded process modules\nIdentify chemistry-driven failure modes and safety risks during testing; drive root cause analysis on test anomalies\nValidate safety systems, interlocks, and fail-safe behavior under upset and off-nominal reaction conditions\nDocument test procedures, results, and deviations with the rigor required for a hazardous-chemistry, audit-ready environment\nFeed test data and hands-on observations back to Chemistry and Process teams to refine reaction and design parameters\nSupport commissioning and startup of production systems at ATP and customer sites\nContribute to test plans, technical documentation, and engineering reviews\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline\n3+ years of professional experience in test engineering, process validation, or a comparable hands-on hardware role interfacing with chemistry\nDemonstrated experience owning test execution end-to-end, from protocol design through data analysis and reporting\nWorking knowledge of reaction chemistry, kinetics, and how they translate to process operating envelopes\nHands-on experience with process instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and test equipment\nAbility to work hands-on in laboratory, fabrication, and plant environments with hazardous materials\nStrong documentation discipline and attention to detail\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot hardware and process issues quickly and rigorously\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience testing chemical processes, batch processes, or other hazardous-chemistry systems\nFamiliarity with PLC/SCADA systems and reading control logic relevant to test execution\nExperience with statistical analysis or data tools (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for test data analysis\nFamiliarity with safety and reliability standards (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, or similar)\nExperience in defense, aerospace, energetics, or other regulated manufacturing environments\nAdditional Requirements\nAbility to lift 50 lbs\nU.S. Person and ability to obtain a security clearance\nAbility to work on-site and travel as needed\nITAR Requirements\nThis position requires access to information and technology protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
