Environmental Project Engineer

SUMMARY: The Environmental Project Engineer position supports Soundview’s overall Environmental program, whose goal is to make our company’s environmental footprint smaller. They will utilize sound engineering practices to improve the pulp and paper manufacturing process with specific emphasis on conservation of water resources and minimization of waste. This person will lead projects at the facility to address opportunities and improvements for consuming less water, and reducing wastes. The Environmental Project Engineer must be able to build consensus across a multifunctional team and leverage those relationships to effectively lead and complete environmental related projects. Also, there will be daily duties for inspections, oversight of sampling and environmental testing and process engineering work. ACCOUNTABILITIES· Project management of all aspects of scope, cost estimates, supervision of craftsmen, commissioning, start-up, problem solving and completion of Punchlist to ensure a successful project for Objective, timeline, and costs· Environmental reporting that is compliant· Compliant Environmental oversight of sampling and testing· Ensure regulations are being met by the Operations· Process Improvement for the Environmental aspects of the OperationsQUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES· Minimum of 3 years in the same or similar role in a manufacturing environment· Has lead environmental related projects, both capital and process improvements· High level of Safety competency and active safety role model· Communication Skills, competent with MS Office and has effective reporting competencies· Innovation to change existing processes and make improvements· Project leadership, knowledgeable of CAD· Collaborative skills – able to work effectively across levels and departmentsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science, Engineering. Hazardous Waste Material and Handling Certification is a plus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: Individual will be working routinely in the Mill, which can be hot, wet, dusty and noisy. They must be able to work the hours required to complete tasks, duties and responsibilities.
